Christmas traditions have always cast Santa in a disciplinarian role. Many European cultures have a rather frightening character accompanying Father Christmas as he visits children from house to house, thereby ensuring that they will be good! In America, we have Christmas songs that sing of children being :naughty or nice” and Santa Claus wants to insure that the good child, young and old, get their Christmas stockings filled to the top and many gifts under their tree.
Tradition tells us he keeps track of all the naughty and nice children in a big book as a way of making the children behave before Christmas. This Santa has been checking his lists, catalogs and books and this year he only has one book for naughty children. Everyone else has been very, very nice! Christmas wishes do come true…if you’re good!
